Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition, Pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body’s “core” or “powerhouse”.

The abdominal muscles, lower back and buttocks serve as the center of all movement, allowing the rest of the body to move freely. The low impact nature of Pilates makes it ideal for injury prevention and rehabilitation. Pilates on reformer is a way of life. It has many benefits, which includes relieving chronic back pain, knee and joint pain.

At Absolute You, we’ve created a unique Group Experience – Pilates Reformer GX. Immersive in its nature and all-encompassing in its approach, it’s designed this way to give you a faster, functional, athletic exercise that still stays true to the core principles of Pilates.

CLASS STYLES

FOUNDATION CLASS (30MIN)

Foundation class orients students about the fundamentals of Pilates, and how to operate the reformers in a safe manner appropriate for group classes. It introduces them to a systematic order and choreography of the exercises. Students will learn 5 important principles of Pilates on Reformer to prepare themselves for the class.

Note: Students new to Pilates Reformer need to attend minimum 1 session of Foundation Class.

ESSENTIAL ABS & ARMS (60 mins)

A Fun, moderate intensity class that teaches the fundamental principles of Pilates with an emphasis on toning up your core “powerhouse” and giving your arms definition.

CIRCUIT ABS & ARMS (60 mins)

A higher intensity class that uses 2 sets of each exercise to improve endurance and effectively strengthen, tone, shape your abs & arms.

ESSENTIAL BUTT & THIGHS (60 mins)

A Fun, moderate intensity class that teaches the fundamental principles of Pilates with a core focus of lower body workout.

YOGA ON THE REFORMER (60 mins)

A class that brings together yoga stretches conducted on the Reformer. To strengthen and tone while stretching.

ESSENTIAL FIT & TONE (60 mins)

A total body workout to shape and tone your body, making it long & lean. Different exercises are conducted in each class to make it fun & exciting.

REFORMER BLEND (60 mins)

A workout combining the use of accessories such as toning balls and resistance bands with reformer exercises to shape the entire body and improve coordination.

CIRCUIT BUTT & THIGHS (60 mins)

A higher intensity class that uses 2 sets of each exercise to improve endurance and effectively strengthen the lower body.

We are excited to welcome you and share our revolutionary and exciting way of exercise. We know that trying something new can be sometimes intimidating, but have no fear, Absolute You is here to support you every step of the way.

WHAT IS PILATES REFORMER?

The Pilates Reformer is an exercise machine used to incorporate the Pilates exercise technique for a challenging and intense workout. Springs and body weight are used as resistance while performing movements targeting specific muscles groups.

ARRIVE EARLY

Our classes start on time. So, please make sure you arrive at least 30 minutes before class. You can easily check-in at the front desk. If you are the first-timer, please inform our staff and they will show you around as well as tell you more about how the class works.

*All first-timers are required to take minimum 1 foundation class.

FIRST-TIMER WAVIER

New to Absolute You? We need your info. All first-timers are required to fill out a waiver form. The front desk will get you set up with a form when you first check-in at the studio. All members who are 18 years old or under are required to have a parent or guardian’s signature in person.

WHAT TO WEAR

Work out in style! We suggest wearing form-fitting pants or shorts, and a light breathable top. Towels are provided at the studio.

Grip socks is needed for Pilates Reformer class and is available for purchase in studio.

DO I HAVE TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?

Just your smile and a positive attitude! In addition, a water bottle although we do sell water at the studio. Hydration is key!

CAN I PRACTICE PILATES WHEN I AM PREGNANT?

As the pregnancy is a delicate time for mothers-to-be where special care and attention is needed, we only recommend Personal Pilates classes so that a program can be tailor-made for the expectant mother to support her pregnancy.

WHO CAN DO PILATES REFORMER?

Men and women of all fitness levels, ages and backgrounds can do Pilates. The exercises can be modified for various body types, comfort levels and physical conditions. Pilates is an intelligent exercise and people who practice Pilates develop exquisite body-mind awareness, muscular strength, and flexibility.

HOW CAN PILATES HELP FIRM AND TONE MY BODY?

In every exercise on the reformer machine, you will engage all of the muscles in your body so you’re getting a total-body workout, strengthening your muscles equally and proportionally.

The reformer allows you to vary the resistance you’re working against by adjusting the number of springs connection the carriage to the frame. The dynamic resistance the springs provide also means you have to work that much harder. Therefore, Pilates on the reformer will help you firm and tone your body more efficiently than mat Pilates.

HOW SOON DO I SEE RESULTS?

“In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference and in 30 sessions you will have a new body” – Joseph Pilates, Found of Pilates. Most of our members have found this to be true and many started to see results shortly after attending regular classes at least 2-3 times per week.

HOW CAN PILATES REFORMER HELP IMPROVE MY OTHER SPORTS PERFORMANCE?

The global benefits of Pilates Reformer, such as enhanced body awareness, improved neuromuscular coordination and greater strength and flexibility. You can also practice Pilates Reformer to condition yourself for your favourite sport. For example, practising Pilates Reformer will help you achieve a smoother, more efficient golf swing with a greater range of motion and protect against injury.

Pilates Reformer benefits for racquet sports such as golf, tennis, badminton are:

1) Heightened breathing awareness, promoting focus and decreasing neck tension

2) Enhanced stabilization of the spine during rotation, helping to prevent injury and promoting better biomechanics

3) Added strength and flexibility of the hip joints, allowing easier load transfer and allowing greater rotation during your swing

4) Increased symmetry of the body

HOW DOES PILATES REFORMER HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS?

Pilates benefits the body by strengthening, toning and building muscles mass. The increase in muscle mass causes a corresponding increase in metabolic rate, which can aid with weight loss (along with cardio supplementation). Stronger, healthier muscles will also metabolize fat much more effectively than weak, untrained muscles. The most successful and healthy way to achieve weight loss is an exercise plan that includes an aerobic component coupled with a strength-training component, such as Pilates exercise, and following a balanced diet. Combining Pilates with aerobic exercise also offers additional benefits: greater mind-body connection, improved posture, flexibility and functionality.

A workout towel is available upon request. Also, bath towels are provided in the changing room.

CHANGING ROOMS

We have made sure that you can really pamper yourself in our changing rooms. Our studio has men’s and women’s changing rooms complete with showers, fresh towels and a few daily essentials for your convenience. Both are also equipped with hair dryers, so whether you’re getting ready to take on the best of your day or need to shine at your next meeting, we’ve got you covered.
